What are the different types of senior assisted living homes?
When it comes down to it there really are only three types of senior assisted living homes:
- Senior Independent Living
- Assisted Living
- Nursing Home Care
Senior Independent living is for healthy self-sufficient seniors who are able to care for themselves and maintain a simple apartment but want to enjoy the social activities of the senior community. These facilities put each resident in their own private, easy to maintain apartment giving them total freedom as well as the security and comfort of living in an independent living facility.
Assisted living facilities are for people who just need a little help with day to day activities. They don't have any severe medical problems but could use a little assistance with things such as dressing, bathing, and preparing meals. These facilities, such as The Lake Shore, are a perfect compromise between total medical care and total independence, offering general assistance, privacy, and a fun and active social setting.
Nursing homes are facilities that have 'round the clock medical care available. Their patients range from people needing short-term rehabilitation after something such as hip surgery, to people with chronic ailments or disabilities that need long-term care and daily attention from RN's.
